Selling in the UK, Europe and the GCC from one online store

How to run one e-commerce store for the UK, EU and Gulf markets: currencies, VAT, Arabic right-to-left design, local payment methods and international SEO.

One online store can serve several markets well, provided each market gets what local customers expect: their currency, their tax rules, their payment methods and their language.

Currency and prices

Show prices in the shopper's currency (GBP, EUR, AED, SAR) and decide whether prices are converted automatically or set per market. Rounded local prices usually convert better than exact conversions.

Tax

Tax rules differ by market. UK VAT is generally 20%, EU VAT varies by country, the UAE applies 5% and Saudi Arabia 15%. Your platform needs correct tax settings per market and invoices that meet local requirements. Confirm the details with your accountant.

Payments

Arabic is more than translation

An Arabic storefront needs a true right-to-left layout: navigation, galleries, forms, icons and checkout all mirrored and tested. Use a good Arabic typeface and have product content written or reviewed by a native speaker, not machine-translated.

Shipping and returns

Set shipping zones, delivery times and duties clearly for each market. Cross-border returns are a common reason for abandoned baskets, so publish the policy before checkout.

Search visibility in each market

Keep one product catalogue, localise descriptions properly, and each market can rank and convert on its own terms. Penta Services builds multi-market stores on Shopify, WooCommerce and custom platforms.
